The New Marketing Media Environment Must Live Or We Die Economically

The new marketing media environment consists of marketing tool elements such as: YouTube, MySpace, Facebook, Twitter, Digg, Delicious, Blogs, Webinars, Podcasts, Videocasts, AdWords, AdSense, Affiliate Programs, Craigslist, online gaming, and others.

The good news is most of these tools are currently offered for free. The bad news is many of them face the potential threat of becoming extinct if they don’t find a way to profitably monetize their business. Many of these companies are operating deeply in the red.

It is in the best interest of those who monetarily benefit from these media tools should contribute to sustaining and helping to make them profitable. The services should remain free to non-commercial users. This is important because without a large number of active participants, the system is doomed to failure. The non-commercial users benefit by having all these communication, socialization, and entertainment sources available to them for free. Those that use the system in this way should also contribute to keeping it viable by freewill offerings and donations and/or supporting the businesses that pays to support the system. It’s all about everybody giving a little. If everyone gives a little, everyone receives and benefit. But if everyone is freely receiving and not giving, then eventually all these goodies will disappear or everyone will be mandated to pay.

A digital system is very low cost to maintain in comparison to a physical world analog system. Therefore, if the fundamental cost of doing business is low, business people should take “greed” out of the mix and charge much lower prices for their products and services. In addition, a convenient micropayment system will greatly enhance user financial support of the system. The best business model of this is Craigslist. Most things are free on Craigslist, yet they are one of the most profitable web-based companies around.

This is indeed a beautiful system that can enable many more people globally to realize their dreams and aspirations. We live in a world of abundance not scarcity. The problem is and has been up until now; the communication channels have been limited and controlled by a hand full of business tycoons. An affordable and user friendly system of communicating and transacting business will allow "whosoever will", to tap into the abundance the world has to offer.

This is indeed a transformative time that we live in and it is time for a change, not just in Washington, but also throughout the world. The new and improved Internet is giving “POWER To THE PEOPLE”. We can do all things through a system that removes the limiting barriers and hurdles that prevent the “whosoever wills” from entering therein. The reign of the giants’ era is in disarray and their foundations are being violently shaken. A new and better way is on the horizon and we must seize the moment and the movement and not allow this new and better way to fail. For if it prospers, we all prosper.

  1. business model. At some point the "Y" generation and those before them, that operate their businesses through these free services, will be asked to donate, or upgrade to paid accounts in order for them to enjoy the distribution power that comes with using new medias such as: Facebook, Twitter, and Youtube. You make a very interesting point that non-commercial users should be well aware that had it not been for Youtube, Myspace and the others alike, their voices, ideas, and entertainment would be swept under the rug by the "man" and lost in the mass media shuffle. So when the time comes to pay, and it will come, or when more ads appear on your profile page people should not get offended Instead they should consider the reality of it all and that is someone has to pay for this stuff. Thankfully there isn't a scarcity problem.
