One Day Um Gonna...?

How many times have you told yourself, “one day um gonna do…?”. We tell ourselves that because that’s the vision or dream we have in our mind, but “the reality” (the visible circumstantial evidence) staring us in the face tells us that, that can’t happen right now. So we file it away in our memory in a file folder labeled “one day um gonna do”. And every time that illusive day approaches, some other circumstantial evidence presents itself and prompts us to re-file that goal or idea.

Someone once said, “there is no time like the present”. Maybe in the past, there were insurmountable obstacles that prevented you from moving forward with your ideas and goals. It may have been lack of knowledge, lack of money, marital problems or other good excuses. But the reality of the matter is that there is always something within your power that you can be doing now to move you toward your goals. Don’t focus just on the big finished picture of the puzzle, but rather, focus on some of the small pieces of the puzzle that you can readily identify and began to put in place. As you continuously assemble the parts that you can, you will begin to recognize that the puzzle is beginning to take shape. Remember, Rome was not built in a day. It takes time to put together a complex puzzle.

God will give you today what you need for today. He will give you what you need tomorrow, when tomorrow gets here. Many things will be presented to you on a daily basis, but not all will be from or of God. You must learn to recognize and distinguish what things are profitable, of value, and contributes to the advancement of your vision puzzle. Many of the things that present themselves to you will be distractions and detours. Don’t allow them to consume all your valuable time and take you off course. Stay focused on your goal in the same way you must keep your eyes on the road when traveling.

Your future is the composite construct of all the pieces of the puzzle of your dream or vision you have assembled up to that point.  If you have assembled little or none of the pieces, when the future arrives, your vision will still be a figment of your imagination with no manifestation. So stop saying, “one day um gonna” and start saying, “today I will hear what the Spirit of God is saying to me and I will be obedient and do it now today”. If you learn to put this one principle into daily practice, you will find that the pieces of the puzzle are day by day coming together and taking shape. So today, start clearing out your “one day um gonna” file folder.
